EXPANSION JOINTS FOR COAL FIRED POWER GENERATION

By managing thermal expansion and contraction, expansion joints used in coal-fired power plants are critical in preventing equipment and pipe failures. Expansion joints are often constructed from high-strength materials such as Viton™, EPDM, FKM, PTFE and ceramic insulation to withstand corrosive conditions and high temperatures. Fabric, metal, and rubber type joints are all options that protect against coal emissions in applications including the flue gas duct.

Fabric Expansion Joints are designed:
  • To withstand temperatures up to 2000 deg F
  • To last for years in rugged service conditions and chemicals
  • To accommodate large lateral and axial movements
  • For easy, cost-effective installation
